 Night Before Christmas Poems

Santa knows if you’ve

been naughty or nice.

He’s made his list,

and he’s checked it twice.

But only after reading our poems,

about mischievous Christmas mice!

Our class read Clement C. Moore’s famous poem “’Twas the Night Before Christmas”.  After reading the poem and its unforgettable first lines, “Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse”, our class wondered what it would be like if a mouse was stirring on Christmas Eve.  The students made up their own versions of “Night Before Christmas” from the viewpoint of a mouse, who is awake waiting for Santa.  Read the poems to see what kind of mischief our mice get into!

The student author’s names are hidden inside their poem!

‘Twas the night before Christmas,

When all through the house

Not a creature was stirring,

But me, Adan mouse!

I heard something in the chimney

I went to take a look

And I saw a black shoe

And Santa Claus!

 He said “Shhhhhh!” to me

And he gave me a little box

I really wanted to know what was in it

But he said don’t open it until Christmas

Then he gave me a cookie

It was chocolate chip

And it had two raspberries in it

 But I heard him exclaim

As he drove out of sight

“Happy Christmas to All,

And to all a good night!”

‘Twas the night before, Christmas

When all through the house,

Not a creature was stirring,

But me Alex mouse

I was walking through the house when I saw Vinny mouse,

We did not want to go anywhere but to the cookie jar,

On our way there we saw Redi mouse,

Then we all went to the cookie jar

All of  a sudden when we got to the cookie jar there were no cookies but they were near.

We saw then on the table but when we got there we heard something we heard saint Nick

exclaim Merry Christmas to all

and to all a good night!

‘Twas the night before Christmas

and all through the house

not a creature was stirring but me, Alyssa Mouse!

I enjoyed the night while running through the house,

I ran around like a maniac mouse!

It is my third Christmas and exciting too!

But would I run through the house like I always do?

You would think I would, but not to night,

I was sure that this Christmas would be such excite!

As I heard the refrigerator open, was someone up?

Would they find me and capture me? I’d better hide under that tea cup!

Someone was there!

What a scare!

But the refrigerator did not close all the way.

So went going in the refrigerator and I was be happy to stay!

I will snack on the cheese!

Maybe some milk too please!

If I’d happen to hear a sound or a hoof,

I’d hide in the Fridge and eat some food.

So just remember, when it is Christmas night,

Listen for Santa to say, “Merry Christmas to all, and all a good night”!

and she also saw something else that made her eyes sparkle.

She saw holly on leaves along with a wreath .

She also saw a beautiful candy cane

she licked it, it tasted sugary and sweet and also very good.

curled and striped white!

It was a candy cane so yummy

and light yet very sticky

and bright! I nibbled as much as I could

So I asked her, “Do you want to go for the cookie cupboard?”

But she said, “Let’s go to the clothing dropper instead.

We can jump into the basket of clothes it’s more fun” she said.

So I said I’ll go to the candy bowl instead.

So one the way there I spotted Ollie mouse

And she was on the way to the candy bowl.

So we went together to suck on fruity balls on sticks

YUMMY

And then we found cheese hearts.

So when we were stuffing our cheeks.

With heavenly goodness

Regy, Toro, and Banana.

We all went to the green evergreen.

To swing on boonies.

And an hour after it was time to for Mousey Clause.

So we went and snuggle in cotton.
